Competitions
There are a number of different competitions throughout the year:
Interclubs – a competition hosted by an APDA club to which a small number of other clubs are invited. These are fun and friendly days, where our students get the opportunity to perform their routines for the first time. It is an individual competition and students will perform on stage with up to 11 other girls from various clubs. We attend 2-3 interclubs per year and they are a great introduction for our new students. Interclubs are typically held in July and August.
Teams – students perform their syllabus in groups of six, representing NSP. The aim is to work together to perform the syllabus in unison. This is a great bonding experience for our students. Team competitions are held in September/October.
Champion Girl/Champion Lady – this is an individual competition. Students compete in a zone competition for a chance to represent NSP at APDA’s national competition. This is typically held in October for Juniors/Seniors and November for Ladies.
Finally, we also have our annual showcase, where students perform two or more dances in front of an audience of families and friends. This is the highlight of our year and will be held in December.
Competition entry fees are generally as follows:
Interclubs – $10-$15 per competition
Teams – $30 per person
Champion Girl/Lady – $30 per person
Showcase – Costume hire fee of $15-$20 per dance
Competition fees will be invoiced in Term 3. NSP will register and pay entry fees on your behalf prior to each competition based on the competition entry form. Payment is still required even if you are subsequently unable to attend. Thank you for your understanding!
